So, Arnold has mentioned Mary in a few of her posts, and so have I. Behold the force of nature herself, and she's wearing a Michigan Muscle Boy T-shirt to boot. Apparently, this is her best angle back from her bodybuilding days. It's good to have her on the muscle boy team. She's even got Kevin, Nancy's oft-cited guru, wearing one, though he apparently has made "alterations". I'll have to assemble a rogue's gallery when I get back from Prague (next week), if not before.
But this isn't just a post to honor Mary's good choice in t-shirts and viral marketing abilities. Yesterday, we had a great legs workout too. As the hour grows late, I'll just report maxima in lbs. We did 3–4 sets of 15 reps in each exercise with liberal rest.
- Single leg hammer press: 110 lbs. (PR). This can best be described as approximating a single leg hack squat. It hammers the quad and gets the glute too. On one leg in a press, a lot of stabilization is required too, making the movement much more difficult. I've done 360 on this machine with two legs.
- Leg extension: 220 lbs. Nice frankly at 15 reps. Not quite the Arnold level though. I think the girl has alien parts.
- Hammer iso-lateral curl: 80 lbs. Well, we started there and made 15 reps. We then dropped to 70.
- Hammer Hack Squat: 240 lbs. This machine is hard because, like the original hack squat, the weight hits around the hips, no back to give an extra push.
- Smith Lunge: 118 lbs. Mary thought this was a PR, but I've made 138.
- Hammer calf: 250 lbs. (PR). I was getting great range.
So, a little force of nature, and the PRs come back even with diet and a lot of work stress.
