Well, I have two new tripods for under $10, one of them is actually the $3 little wonder you see pictured on the right from amazon. The thing's a hoot. It gives you about 4.5 inches and holds the camera steady. The legs are meant to be bent; that's how you adjust the camera angle. And, there's an added benefit, you can wrap them around gym equipment to capture all sorts of angles.
I have also figured out a few things about the camera itself, a Casio Exilim Z750. The auto white adjust performs poorly for indoor shots, giving you sometimes strongly oversaturated colors. However, the indoor presets are good, giving the camera a superior performance overy many poiint-and-shoots. You'll start to see that with today's stuff. Those shots should start appearing over the weekend if not before.
An excellent investment. Should make a big difference.
