Bridge Plus Knee Tuck with Swiss Ball

20060512bridgewithswissballbudupInspired by Blaine Moore's series on the bridge exercise, The Big Girl and I decided to video ourselves attempting this advanced version where you actually tuck your knees with feet balanced on the Swiss Ball.  Perhaps Scott Bird, newly arrived in the land of boxing kangaroos, and forced to resort to the Total Gym 1000 will find some inspiration in this as a low equipment exercise.

This exercise is fun because it is so challenging.  You feel as though you are always about to roll off the ball, and you really work your abs in the process.  Blaine mentions that he is going to try our variation.  I'll be interested to hear how it works out.

A swiss ball would indeed be a handy addition to the home gym (which is yet to be set up). I've been visiting a few of the fitness stores around here to see what sort of things they have; so it shouldn't be too far away.

I've done these Jackknifes, is what I've heard them called and they are a grind for sure. I actually might do some today since I've got to work the abs!

Scott, good to see you back in commenting mode.

Chirs, thanks for the name, I'll post a note on the analysis.

I went to the gym with my fiance yesterday to spot her in her workout, and took the opportunity to try these out while she was doing her deadlifts.

They were fun; I liked them a lot. I'm not sure if I am going to work them into my current lifting schedule or not yet, but they are definately going to be a part of my future lifting plans.

I got a fun new move involving a swiss ball and leg curls for you to try at some point. I'll have to see if I can't get some pictures taken and an animated how to up for it. (Or any animations for that matter; I've been remiss these last few weeks)
