I've been laying low on the blogging front. This week was kind of tough. I traveled down to Alabama to visit my dad and work on house selling. Then, it was back up here. All while maintaining the discipline of the low carb induction phase.
On top of all of this, Arnold and I tried to launch a muscle definition phase this week. Doing something like that is strongly discouraged in the metabolic (anabolic) diet literature. Well, we learned our lesson.
Then, at the end of the week, a disastrous spate of 1RM attempts. I had felt energy drained all week from the low carb diet, and we could not get our current training quite right.
Well, it's a new (though even busier) week next week. I've had a carb load this weekend. Let's see if we can make some improvements.
I've never tried any form of low-carb diet (apart from laying off the meat pies for a few days), but I imagine it'll take a while for your body to adapt to it. No doubt the carb load will provide a good energy boost for a day or two.

When I did Atkins a few years back one thing that I noticed when I was low carbing it, is that I had a hard time working out. Whether it's lifting or some sort of cardio. I'm sure it can be done, but my guess would be that you either have to up the carbs or perhaps take a stimulant!

Scott: I noticed the workout today worked well after the carb load. I wonder what Wednesday will be like.
Chris: Yep, carbs are necessary to get the workout. I had a similar experience with Atkins. This metabolic guy claims to have figured out some sort of rhythm with weekend carb loading. I think the overall idea is to get to the carbs you need but no more. We'll see how that plays.

Bud, I'll be curious to see if you are able to continue to "lo carb it" and lift heavier weights. Or i guess see if this guy has figured out something. Everything I've heard, which isn't much, tells me that you can't lo carb it for long periods of time and expect to get some good results.

Remember, we do have carb load weekends, so it's not pure low carb.
